Brewery Square extends Christmas celebrations throughout December

Dorchester’s Brewery Square is hosting a variety of activities and performances for the whole family to enjoy in the lead up to Christmas.

After kicking off festivities with a Christmas Lights Illumination event and of Skating In The Square on 27th November, the events continue throughout December with a band performance, silent disco, craft activities and film screenings. An ongoing Christmas Trail will also take place throughout the festive period for families to enjoy.

As part of the late-night shopping offerings every Thursday throughout December, Brewery Square will be hosting a different event each week, starting on 2nd December.

Robert Ackland, Director at Brewery Square, said: “We’re keeping the festivities going throughout December at Brewery Square to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy something a bit different while indulging in some late-night shopping. We’ve created a schedule packed full of activities to suit a range of interests, from music lovers to craft fans. We can’t wait to welcome more of the Dorchester community to Brewery Square so we can celebrate this special time of year together.”

The first Thursday event will see the Durnovaria Silver Band welcoming the festive period to Dorchester. The 80-year-old band will be performing Christmas carols in the square for friends and family to sing along.

A Silent Christmas Disco will be taking place on 9th December, where parents and kids can pick up a pair of headphones and dance along to some family-friendly tunes from 4-6pm.

A Christmas Craft Activities event will be taking place on 16th December for families to get their creative juices flowing and make their own Christmas art to take home. Activities range from making a card for someone special to decorating a bauble to adorn the Christmas tree.

The last of the Thursday evening events will see the Screen On The Square showing various screenings of The Snowman and The Snow Dog on 23rd December – a perfectly Christmassy and calm respite for one of the busiest trading days of the year.

Retailers will also be celebrating the festive period, with Copper Street Brewery hosting a Yuletide beer festival from 10-12th December. The brewery will be open from 12pm each day, serving several winter beers, mulled wine and mulled cider.

In addition, from Saturday 4th December, a Christmas Trail will also be hosted to hunt for Santa and his friends in the square, open daily until Christmas Eve. To enter, a form must be collected from Brewery Square’s Concierge Office to find all the hidden images located around the area to win a prize.
