Helping Hands, a fundraising committee based in Poole, is holding a coffee morning and grand raffle on Friday, May 6, to help raise funds for Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities.

Hosted at the Rick Stein restaurant in Sandbanks between 9.30am and 11.45am, the £7 ticket includes unlimited tea, coffee, croissants, and pastries, and can be paid on arrival.

Wendy Wait, a member of Helping Hands, commented: “Our coffee mornings are a great opportunity for people to get together and enjoy the spectacular views of Brownsea Island and Poole Bay over delicious food and in great company. We are pleased to be able to continue our fundraising for Diverse Abilities as the cause is so important to us.”

The charity supports children and adults across the county with physical and learning disabilities and additional needs through a range of services including a specialist school, respite homes, activity centres, play sessions, family support, and an advice team.

Claire Cooper, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, added: “Community fundraising groups like Wendy and the ladies at Helping Hands are so important in helping us raise vital funds each and every year. We’re thrilled this type of event can happen again because it’s been a long time since we’ve been able to get together!”

Other community groups are encouraged to reach out to the charity if they are interested in hosting their own events to support those with disabilities in their locality. Previous fundraising initiatives hosted by Helping Hands have included auctions, bazaars, and fundraising luncheons.
