CYBER ESSENTIALS PLUS CERTIFICATION FOR SOUTHERN CONTRACTS

BOURNEMOUTH based Southern Contracts, are pleased to advise they have been awarded certification for Cyber Essentials Plus security.

Cyber Essentials is a government and industry backed initiative, assisting businesses to protect themselves against the growing threat of cyber attacks. It provides clear guidelines of the controls an organisation should have in place to protect themselves.

The government’s objective is to provide a safer internet space for organisations of all sizes, across all sectors. The Cyber Essentials scheme, developed and operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), is considered the best step to a more secure network, providing 80% protection against the most common cyber security breaches.

Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of certification offered under the Cyber Essentials scheme. It requires more rigorous testing where cyber security experts carry out vulnerability tests to make sure that your organisation is protected against basic hacking and phishing attacks.

Adam Elphinstone, MD of Southern Contracts said: “Why bother obtaining this certification? Well, we believe that by holding Cyber Essentials Plus certification, we demonstrate to our many customers that our systems are secure when it comes to cyber security. This is of paramount importance to all our clients, whether they are a care home provider, a school or the Royal Navy.

“By possessing this certificate, it illustrates how we take a proactive stance against malicious cyber attacks. In addition, it offers a mechanism to demonstrate to customers, investors, insurers and others that we have taken the essential precautions to protect your organisation against cyber threats. This instils confidence in not only our existing clients, but also potential new clients, and for some government contracts it is essential.”
With cyber crime on the increase, the Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2020 reports that the nature of cyber attacks has also changed over the years. Since 2017 the number of businesses experiencing attacks has increased from 72% to 86%, so there has never been a better time to become Cyber Essentials certified.
