Game on as players line up at lunch

Guests were on the ball with Ellis Jones Solicitors and rugby legends at the Dorset Sporting Club’s Spring lunch in Sandbanks, Poole.

Former Wales international Adam Jones and gold medal winning Paralympian Aaron Phipps were speakers at the event at Rick Stein’s restaurant sponsored by Ellis Jones and supported by Julius Baer International Limited.

They shared gripping stories and anecdotes about life on and off the pitch during their careers.

Nigel Smith, managing partner of Ellis Jones, said: “Adam and Aaron were wonderful company with humorous tales and reflections about the game.

“We touched upon the latest Six Nations championship and they gave inspirational insights into their own journeys in rugby and life in general.

“It was a privilege to spend the afternoon with these two giants of the game at another very successful sporting lunch.”

Alan Hooks, head of private clients, Julius Baer International Ltd, said: “Julius Baer International Limited is committed to building long-term relationships with partners as we continue to look at expanding our network across the UK.

“It was a pleasure to support the latest Dorset Sporting Lunch with Ellis Jones Solicitors and hear from such high calibre speakers as Aaron and Adam.”

Iconic Wales international Adam Jones won 95 caps for his country along with five test caps for the British Lions and is now the scrum coach at Premiership Rugby side Harlequins.

Southampton-born Aaron Phipps had both legs and most of his fingers amputated after contracting meningitis C and meningococcal sepsis at the age of just 15.

He began his sporting journey in wheelchair racing before taking part in two successive London Marathons.

Aaron became the first disabled Briton to scale Mount Kilimanjaro and has competed in two Paralympics – winning gold at the Tokyo Games held in 2021.

The Dorset Sporting Club lunch was organised by England rugby legend David Duckham.

Ellis Jones sponsors a number of local sports teams, including Wimborne’s cricket and football clubs and the Bournemouth-based Oakmeadians rugby team.

It has more than 170 staff including 21 partners in five offices across the south coast as well as London.
