It’s child’s play for Wimborne’s Streetlight Project

Talbot Village Trust has further strengthened its support for the Wimborne-based Streetlight Project, a charity which runs a skate park, soft play facility and community café.

The Trust, a grant-giving charity that supports worthy causes across east Dorset, awarded the Streetlight Project with a third grant of £6,700 to extend and upgrade its soft play facility. The refreshed area is free to use and can accommodate up to 15 children under the age of five. It includes an area for babies with a slide, steps, and soft padding as well as an area for pre-schoolers with slides, steps, punch bags and soft padding.

Andy Putt, Project Director at the Streetlight Project, said: “Talbot Village Trust has been very supportive over the years, not only being fundamental in the development of our original soft play area in 2020, but also in helping us to resolve a sound issue in our cafe by providing funding towards the installation of soundproofing in 2017. Improving our soft play has changed the lives of many parents who simply cannot afford such activities for their children on a regular basis. We wish to thank the Trust for its continued support as it has allowed the centre to become a better resource for the community.”

Caroline Cooban, Chief Executive Officer at Talbot Village Trust, added: “The Streetlight Project is a fantastic community hub, bringing young people and their families together to either learn or improve their skills in the skate park, explore the soft play area or simply to relax and enjoy a coffee. It’s great to see how our support has enhanced the project’s facilities, encouraging fitness, fun and social gatherings.”

Talbot Village Trust awards up to £1million every year, supporting various causes to youth organisations, education groups and community-focused projects. The charity is encouraging further local causes to apply for funding ahead of its application deadline on 31st July.
