Meteoric growth sparks recruitment drive for OnBuy

OnBuy.com has recruited for 32 new roles across multiple departments and is set to continue its recruitment campaign, underlining the company’s position as the world’s fastest-growing online marketplace*.

The huge 2021 recruitment drive comes after OnBuy announced its best year so far in 2020, which saw it achieve 605% year to date growth. The marketplace continues to grow and achieved 830% year-on-year growth in March 2021.

OnBuy’s team has scaled significantly in size since the start of the year to accommodate the eCommerce boom, going from just 14 team members to over 85. The recruitment drive enabled OnBuy to develop its diversity strategy. Employing candidates regardless of their gender, race, religion, socio-economic levels or sexual orientation enables different perspectives and backgrounds to contribute to more diverse ideas and to help drive further innovation.

As part of the company-wide hiring expansion strategy, aside from welcoming three high-ranking senior directors, new hires include customer service agents, UX researchers, content writers, software development managers, a digital PR manager and two experienced recruitment managers

These new hires come at the beginning of a major growth ramp up for OnBuy as it continues on the first phase of its worldwide scale-up into a wide range of countries by year-end 2023. A further 33 vacancies are currently available, with more to follow later this year.

Overseeing the recruitment drive is Head of HR Helen Manley, a recent appointment herself, who says: “With the continued evolution of the eCommerce market, we’re working extremely hard to build the best team possible to support us in our mission to provide a fair, transparent marketplace that benefits our customers and retailers.

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and our aim is to maintain a thriving creative culture by valuing and empowering our team. We consider a variety of different types of working, such as part-time, flexible, remote, or shared roles. We’re also regularly building on our benefits package and we’ve already introduced some exciting additions, such as increased annual leave, an employee referral scheme, an employee share scheme and the option to work flexitime, which helps our team work in ways that support their lives outside of the office. We focus on output and not hours spent at a desk,” Manley concludes.
